John L. Goldwater, born Max Leonard Goldwasser, was an American editor and writer notable for co-founding MLJ Comics, later known as Archie Comics, with Maurice Coyne and Louis Silberkleit. He served as an editor and publisher for many years, and in the 1950s, he became a prominent supporter and custodian of comic book censorship guidelines known as the Comics Code Authority. Goldwater's contributions significantly impacted the comic book industry.
