John Kenneth Galbraith (October 15, 1908 – April 29, 2006) was a Canadian-American economist, public official, diplomat, and a prominent advocate of American liberalism in the 20th century. His best-selling books on economic topics have remained influential since the 1950s. A long-time member of Harvard University's faculty, he authored fourteen books, including key economic texts like 'American Capitalism' and 'The Affluent Society.' Active in Democratic politics, he served in the administrations of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and John F. Kennedy, and was the U.S. Ambassador to India.
