John Francis Helwig was an American football linebacker born on December 5, 1927. He played in the NFL for four seasons with the Chicago Bears after being drafted in the eleventh round of the 1950 NFL Draft. Helwig played college football at the prestigious University of Notre Dame and attended Mount Carmel High School in Los Angeles, California. He passed away just a few days before his 67th birthday on December 2, 1994.
