Dr John Haybittle was a prominent British medical physicist who served at Addenbrooke's Hospital from 1948 until his retirement in 1982, ultimately becoming Chief Physicist. He held important roles within professional organizations, including secretary of the British Institute of Radiology and editor of the British Journal of Radiology. Haybittle was recognized for his contributions with the Röntgen Prize in 1972 and the Barclay Medal in 1987. He is also known for co-inventing the Haybittle–Peto boundary with Richard Peto, which is a significant development in medical research.
