Dr. John Gwilym Jones (27 September 1904 – 16 October 1988) was a Welsh playwright and lecturer. Born in Groeslon, Dyffryn Nantlle, he taught in London before becoming a drama producer with the BBC. He later lectured in the Welsh Department at Bangor University, inspiring generations of students, many of whom became notable Welsh novelists such as John Rowlands, Jane Edwards, and Eigra Lewis Roberts. He passed away shortly after an injury while reopening a chapel in Groeslon and was cremated in Bangor, with his ashes buried in Llandwrog.
