John Georg Ljosdal (1903–1974) was a Norwegian visedikter, short story writer, musician, and sailor. He is best known for the song "Gryta hennar mor" performed by the Salhuskvintetten in 1965. Ljosdal was born in Aust-Agder and spent part of his youth in isolation at a reform school. He worked at sea at 16, traveling to various countries. He engaged with notable Norwegian artists and wrote extensively, contributing to the culture of folk music in Norway.
