John Oskar Følstad was a Norwegian politician who served as the mayor of Røra municipality from 1948 to 1955, representing the Labour Party. He was first elected to the municipal council in 1948 and took office as mayor immediately. In his civilian life, he was a farmer, seller, and installer. Born in 1913, he married Dagrun Sneve in 1937, and they settled in his hometown Skogheim in 1940. Følstad was also the chairman of Røra cooperative from 1954 to 1958 and authored a chapter about Røra in a book on Norwegian settlement.
