Major General John Francis Wharton is a retired general of the United States Army, born on December 28, 1957. He had a distinguished career as an Army logistician and led various initiatives in science and technology within the military. Wharton's final assignment was as the commanding general of the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Prior to this role, he commanded the U.S. Army Sustainment Command and served as the senior commander for U.S. Army Garrison in Rock Island, Illinois.
