John D. Langlois (October 8, 1942 - August 19, 2010) was an American sinologist, historian, and banker. He specialized in the Ming dynasty as a sinologist and historian. In 1982, he transitioned from academia to banking, holding several senior positions at J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley in Asia. Additionally, he served on the boards of various banks in China, including CITIC Bank, Shenzhen Development Bank, Bank of Nanjing, Bank of Shanghai, and Agricultural Bank of China.
