Colonel Alfred John Chaston (1916-2010) was a distinguished British Army officer, awarded the Military Cross for exemplary service during WWII. He joined the Monmouthshire Regiment in 1937 and became notable for his leadership during a fierce German counter-attack in Voorheide in 1944. After being wounded in 1945, he continued to serve, eventually becoming Honorary Colonel of the 2nd Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment. Chaston held various leadership roles, including Deputy Commander of the 160th Brigade and serving as Aide-de-Camp to Queen Elizabeth II.
