John Bicknell Auden was an English geologist and explorer, known as the older brother of poet W. H. Auden. He spent many years working in India, where he was affiliated with the Geological Survey of India and the Food and Agriculture Organization. Auden focused on studying Himalayan strata, particularly the Krol Belt, and contributed significantly to groundwater studies and the geology of dam sites in India. His legacy includes the naming of Auden's Col after him.
