John Alwyne Kitching (1908–1996) was a British biologist known for his academic contributions and leadership in biological sciences. He was educated at notable institutions, including Cheltenham College and Cambridge University. Kitching held lecturer positions at several universities and served as a Rockefeller Fellow at Princeton. He was a Professor of Biology at the University of East Anglia from 1963 to 1974 and later became Emeritus Professor. His achievements were recognized with an OBE in 1947 and fellowship in the Royal Society in 1960.
