Jógvan við Keldu is a Faroese businessman and politician born on January 30, 1944, in Klaksvík. He was first elected to the Klaksvík municipal council in 1971 and served as mayor from 1981-1988 and 1993-2001, supported by multiple political parties. He was also a member of the Lagting from 1988-1990 and 1998-2008, during which he proposed that all Nordic citizens learn Swedish as a second language. Moreover, he served as Minister of the Interior in Jóannes Eidesgaard's first government before stepping down in 2005.
