Joel Awanka S. Kpoku is an English-born Congolese rugby union lock, currently playing for Lyon in the French Top 14. He began his rugby journey at school and progressed through various teams, including Saracens Amateur RFC and the Saracens academy. Kpoku made a name for himself after touring South Africa with the Saracens Amateurs U17 team. He was called up for England training in 2018 following a strong performance at the World Rugby Under 20 Championship. In 2021, he left Saracens to join Lyon ahead of the 2021-22 season.
