Jochen Pietzsch is a former German luge athlete born on December 1, 1963, in Halle (Saale). Competing for ASK Vorwärts Oberhof, he won a gold medal in the men's doubles event at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary alongside partner Jörg Hoffmann. Pietzsch also achieved notable success with three World Championship titles. After retiring from competitive sports, he became a physical education teacher at a school in Thuringia. He has a daughter with his wife, Kerstin Moring. For his Olympic victory, he received the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold in 1988.
