He reached the quarterfinals in men's singles and won a bronze medal in men's doubles with Pierre Darmon. Loyo-Mayo was a member of the Mexican Davis Cup team from 1964 to 1976 and graduated in marketing from the University of Southern California. In 1989, he worked as a coach at the historic Edgbaston Archery & Lawn Tennis Society in Birmingham.
