João Apolinário Teixeira Pinto was a Portuguese poet and journalist born on January 18, 1924, in Sintra, Belas. He fought against fascism both in his homeland and during his exile in Brazil. Apolinário collaborated with numerous important publications in Portugal and Brazil, yet he is best known for his poetry, some of which was set to music by his son, João Ricardo, and performed by the band Secos & Molhados. He passed away on October 22, 1988, in Marvão.
