Joan R. Rayfield (1919 - 2001) was an English-Canadian anthropologist and linguist, known for her work as a professor of anthropology at York University. Her publications include 'Languages of Bilingual Community' which discusses the use of Yiddish and English in bilingual Ashkenazi Jewish communities in California during the 1960s, and an English translation of Jacques Marquet's 'The Black Civilization of Africa and the Africans'. She passed away at the age of 82 in 2001.
