Jiro Nagasawa (February 2, 1932 – March 23, 2010) was a renowned Japanese swimmer known for inventing the modern butterfly stroke. While he was not the first to swim a butterfly-breaststroke, he distinguished himself by being the first to incorporate a dolphin kick, where the legs remained together and moved simultaneously in an up-and-down motion. His contributions significantly advanced competitive swimming techniques and are recognized in the sport today.
