Walter James Amoss III, commonly known as Jim Amoss, is a prominent journalist who served as the editor of The Times-Picayune. Under his editorial leadership and that of publisher Ashton Phelps Jr., the newspaper received significant recognition, winning two Pulitzer Prizes in 1997 for public service and editorial cartooning, and two additional Pulitzer Prizes in 2006 for its outstanding coverage of Hurricane Katrina.
