Jila Mossaed Estakhri, born on April 4, 1948, is a Swedish writer originally from Iran. She was born in Tehran and became a new member of the Swedish Academy on October 4, 2018, officially joining on December 20, 2018. Mossaed has been living in exile in Sweden since 1986 and currently resides in Gothenburg. She writes in both Swedish and Persian. She succeeded author Kerstin Ekman for seat 15 in the Academy after Ekman resigned in 1989 due to her involvement in the Rushdie affair.
