Jiban Ghoshal, also known as Makhanlal, was a prominent figure in the anti-British independence movement in the Indian subcontinent. He participated in the Chittagong Armory raid on April 18, 1930, while still a student. After being captured at Feni Railway Station in Noakhali district, he evaded police custody. He was eventually mortally wounded during an armed clash with the police force led by Commissioner Charles Tegart in Chandannagar.
