Jerzy Dera is a Polish scholar, physicist, and oceanographer, born on April 9, 1933. He specializes in oceanology and marine physics. Dera has been a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences since 1991 and a full member since 2002. He works at the Institute of Oceanology PAN in Sopot, Poland. Dera is one of the chief editors of the journal 'Oceanologia' and has authored numerous articles published in the journal. He graduated from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań in 1956 and obtained his professorship twenty years later.
