Jerry Pinkney (born December 22, 1939) is an American illustrator and author of children's books, known for his watercolor illustrations. Since 1964, he has illustrated over 100 books, including picture books, stories, and nonfiction. His works address various themes and have earned him numerous accolades, including the 1994 Boston Globe-Horn Book Award and the 2010 Caldecott Medal for 'The Lion & the Mouse'. He has also received multiple Coretta Scott King Awards and a lifetime achievement award in 2016, highlighting his significant contributions to children's literature.
