Jerome S. Bruner (October 1, 1915 - June 5, 2016) was an American psychologist who significantly contributed to cognitive psychology and educational philosophy. His principles emphasized how individuals interpret the world through similarities and differences. Bruner proposed a hierarchical classification system for knowledge acquisition, reminiscent of Bloom's Taxonomy, and identified two primary modes of thinking: narrative and paradigmatic. He also introduced three modes of representation for child development: enactive (action-based), iconic (image-based), and symbolic (language-based), with these modes being interrelated rather than distinctly separate.
