Jens Gunnar Mattsson, born January 14, 1964, is a Swedish researcher and public official. He has been the Director General of the Swedish Defence Research Agency since August 12, 2019, after previously serving in the same role at the Swedish Veterinary Institute. He represents Sweden in NATO's Science and Technology Board and the European Defence Agency's research and technology board. He holds degrees in chemistry and biotechnology from Uppsala University, with a PhD in microbiology from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
