Born on October 28, 1904, in the Kingdom of Hungary in Kassa (now Košice, Slovakia), he made significant contributions to his fields of expertise. His notable work extended to academia, where he influenced many students. He was married to Magdolna Forró, who was also his colleague. Barnóthy passed away on October 11, 1996, in Evanston, Illinois.
