Jean-Yves Le Drian is a French politician born on June 30, 1947, in Lorient, Morbihan. A member of the Socialist Party, he served as the Mayor of Lorient from 1981 to 1998 and as the President of the Regional Council of Brittany from 2004 to 2012. In September 2010, he became the President of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of Europe. Le Drian held various ministerial roles, including Minister of the Sea and Minister of Defense, before being appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs in Edouard Philippe's government in May 2017 under President Emmanuel Macron.
