Jean, Grand Duke of Luxembourg (January 5, 1921 - April 23, 2019) was the Grand Duke of Luxembourg from 1964 until his abdication in 2000. He was the father of the current Grand Duke, Henri, and the son of Grand Duchess Charlotte and Félix, Count of Bourbon-Parma. During World War II, he served in the Irish Guards, a regiment of the British Army. His reign saw significant political and social changes in Luxembourg, and he was a symbol of national unity and continuity.
