Jean-François Le Gall is a French mathematician born on November 15, 1959, known for his work in probability theory, including Brownian motion, Lévy processes, stochastic calculus, and their connections to partial differential equations. He earned his PhD in 1982 from Pierre and Marie Curie University under the supervision of Marc Yor. Currently, he is a professor at the University of Paris-Sud in Orsay and a prominent member of the Institute of France. He was elected to the French Academy of Sciences in December 2013 and has received several prestigious awards, including the 2019 Wolf Prize in Mathematics.
