Jean d'Hers was a French military officer born in Toulon on May 17, 1910, and posthumously recognized as a Companion of the Liberation in January 1946. He served in Indochina but couldn't fight against Germany in 1940 due to hierarchical restrictions. Instead, he joined the resistance against Japanese forces in the region. He was ultimately killed in combat on March 18, 1945, while fighting against a superior enemy unit.
