Jean-Claude Frachon (April 13, 1944 - October 27, 2005) was a prominent French speleologist. He dedicated forty years of his life to volunteer work with the French Federation of Speleology, leading its two major federal commissions: the French School of Speleology (EFS) from 1976 to 1979 and the French Speleo-Rescue (SSF) from 1988 to 1992. He was also a pioneer in cave diving, serving as head of the Diving Commission from 1973 to 1977.
