Jay P. Dolan was an American historian and former Catholic priest, born on March 17, 1936, and passed away on May 7, 2023. He specialized in the history of Catholicism in the United States and dedicated most of his career to the University of Notre Dame from 1971 to 2003. Dolan was the founder and director of the Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism, where he contributed significantly to the academic study of American Catholic history.
