He gained recognition in 2002 when he became the U25 NACAC champion in the 100 meters and won a gold medal with the US team in the 4x100 meter relay at the IAAF World Cup in Madrid. He also participated in the 2003 Pan American Games but was disqualified along with his team for a doping violation involving teammate Mickey Grimes. In 2006, he again excelled by winning a gold medal with the US 4x100 meter relay team at the World Cup in Athens.
