Air Commodore Jasjit Singh was an esteemed Indian Air Force officer, military strategist, and author. Born on July 8, 1934, he was awarded the Vir Chakra for his bravery during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. He served as the director of operations of the IAF and later directed the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses from 1987 to 2001. In 2001, he founded the Centre for Air Power Studies in New Delhi and led it as director general until his passing on August 4, 2013.
