János Mészáros is a Hungarian diver and long-distance runner born on April 17, 1948, in Dunaszekcső. He has completed the Ironman competition three times, making him one of the first three Hungarians to do so. In addition, he has participated in multiple ultratriathlon events, finishing the tenfold Ironman distance in 1992, a world first. To raise awareness for multiple sclerosis, he cycled across Australia through four deserts (6,900 km) in 1994, and in 1997, he traversed America from Cape Horn to Alaska (22,610 km) in 109 days.
