She achieved significant success at the 1999 Pan American Games, winning three silver medals. Notably, at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, she made history by becoming the first Jamaican swimmer to finish in the top four of any event at the Olympic Games, securing a fourth place in the 400-metre freestyle.
