Jan Godfrey Webster was an English rugby union international born on August 24, 1946, in Southport. He grew up in Walsall and initially aspired to be a footballer. Webster was a scrum-half who earned 11 caps for England in the early 1970s. He is distinguished for his role in two notable victories: England's first away win over the Springboks in 1972 and the historic defeat of the All Blacks in 1973, marking the first win in New Zealand by a home nation. He also played club rugby for Moseley and represented Staffordshire at county level.
