Jan-Waalke Meyer was a German Near Eastern archaeologist and professor at the Institute of Archaeological Sciences at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. He was born on March 31, 1945, in Varel and passed away on March 2, 2023. His research focused primarily on Tell Chuera in northern Syria, where he took over the excavation leadership from Winfried Orthmann in 1998.
