Jan Van Campenhout was a Belgian figurative painter and graphic artist from the mid-20th century. He created artworks featuring clown figures, seascapes, landscapes, café interiors, and animated street scenes, capturing the optimistic atmosphere of his time. He published an album with reproductions of 25 ink drawings called 'Historical Monuments & Buildings.' Active during the 1950s and 1960s, he lived in Oostende and frequently exhibited at the art-deco café 'La Coupole.' His style and content have strong similarities to Jacques Callaert, and he had a student named Dominque Vertenten.
