Jan Thorsen is a Norwegian local politician representing the Centre Party. He served as the mayor of Nome municipality in Telemark for 12 years, from 1999 to 2011. During his tenure, he led the project 'Ta båten til Gaustatoppen', which involved ten municipalities in the development of the Telemark Canal. Thorsen has also been the leader of Midt-Telemarkrådet. He holds a degree as an agrotechnician and worked as a development consultant for Telemark County Municipality from 2011 to 2014, and since 2014, he has been the organization chief at Telemark Bondelag.
