Jan Leendert Melchers (1906-2004) was a prominent Dutch sports administrator, known for his significant contributions to Ajax Amsterdam. A member since 1920, he played in youth and lower senior teams and became the club's president from 1958 to 1964. Under his leadership, Ajax won its first European trophy and the Intertoto Cup in 1962. Melchers was also an editor and contributor to Ajax's club magazine for three decades. Despite facing difficulties during his presidency, including financial challenges and a deteriorating stadium, he remained a dedicated member of the club until his passing.
