Jan Marinus Jongkind, born on September 19, 1932, in Aalsmeer, was a prominent sailor from the Netherlands. He represented the country at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Enoshima, where he finished 13th as a crew member in the Dutch Dragon class alongside helmsman Wim van Duyl and others. Before competing in the Dragon, Jongkind achieved high-level success in the Flying Dutchman class and later sailed the Soling from 1968 to 1969. He is recognized as one of the first sailmakers to utilize Dacron for modern racing sails.
