Jan Hartman (1940 – November 9, 2006, Wareside, Hertfordshire, England) was an American author known for his award-winning radio play 'The Next War', which depicted a nuclear war between the USA and the Soviet Union. The play aired on December 29, 1985, on Finnish radio, causing panic as shelters were filled and several apartments were evacuated. Many Finns experienced shock similar to that of American listeners after Orson Welles' 'The War of the Worlds'.
