Jan F. Vanderheyden was a Belgian librarian and professor born in Heverlee on March 6, 1903. He served as a librarian at the Royal Library of Brussels from 1930 to 1950 and later became a professor at the Catholic University of Leuven from 1950 to 1973. Vanderheyden earned his doctorate in 1930 with a thesis on the theme and depiction of death in the poetry of the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance in the Low Countries. He passed away on October 9, 1987.
