Jan Cami is a Belgian astrophysicist born on November 11, 1972, in Aalst. He has been affiliated with the University of Western Ontario since 2007 and works with the NASA-funded SETI Institute. Cami completed his doctorate on molecular gas around evolved stars in 2002 and has published significant findings on carbon molecules in space, known as buckyballs, which are the largest molecules discovered in the universe. He resides in Mountain View and London with fellow astronomer Prof. Dr. Els Peeters.
