James Parker Dees was an American bishop and the founder of the Orthodox Anglican Church and the Orthodox Anglican Communion. He was ordained in the Episcopal Church and served in various charges before withdrawing due to concerns about liberalism. In 1963, he formed the Anglican Orthodox Church, marking a significant departure from PECUSA. Later, Dees established the Orthodox Anglican Communion and Cranmer Seminary. He was consecrated bishop and received an honorary doctorate. Dees passed away during heart surgery on December 25, 1990, with Jerry Ogles succeeding him as presiding bishop.
