James Alexander McKendry, born on September 30, 1935, is a prominent Irish artist known for his large-scale commissioned sculptures and murals. After graduating in 1958, he designed the 60-foot copper frieze for the Northern Ireland American war memorial, unveiled by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. He exhibited regularly from the 1960s onward, participating in one-man shows and group exhibits in Ireland, England, and abroad. He has also traveled extensively for various organizations and currently resides in Bushmills, County Antrim, where he focuses on painting the rugged coastline.
