James Bennett Lancelot (born 2 December 1952) is an acclaimed British organist who served as master of the choristers and cathedral organist at Durham Cathedral from 1985 until his retirement in 2017. Known for expanding the cathedral choir and founding the Durham Cathedral Consort of Singers, he is recognized for commissioning significant new music. Lancelot has held prestigious positions in various musical organizations and has released several acclaimed recordings. He is also a steam railway enthusiast and has worked as an interim organist at Worcester Cathedral and is currently acting organist at New College, Oxford.
