Dr. James Dewey Watson, KBE, born on April 6, 1928, in Chicago, is an American biochemist and Nobel laureate who co-discovered the molecular structure of DNA with Francis Crick, Maurice Wilkins, and Rosalind Franklin in 1953. He is regarded as one of the most significant molecular biologists of all time, but has faced criticism for his racist, sexist, and homophobic remarks, leading to his resignation as Chancellor of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in 2007.
